George Shaffer has extensive experience in the practice of management and leadership in industrial and academic settings. As Senior Director of Executive Education at the Darden School of Business, at UVA, he was the principal Darden executive responsible for developing corporate universities and education programs for Fortune 500 companies including United Technologies Corporation, Harris Corporation, and AES Global Power Corporation, among others. Prior to that, he held senior Human Resource positions including leadership development, assessment center development and operations, succession planning, career planning, and training at AT&T and Lucent.

He is an expert in leadership development, and has deep expertise in the development and application of executive competency models. He has written numerous published articles documenting executive educational experiences—from creating a talent development framework; to developing leadership competency and key experiences models; to assessing the impact of executive education programs.
A member of First Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia, for 18 years, George has served as Chairman of Deacons, Chair of the Operations Team (Stewardship, Personnel, Facilities), Deacon Trainer, and a Sunday School teacher. First Baptist Church made him a Deacon Emeritus “because of his extraordinary service in the office of Deacons and to the body of Christ.”
George has a B.S. in Business Administration from the U. of Maryland, an accounting degree from Benjamin Franklin University, Washington, D.C., a Human Resources Professional Certification (SPHR) through Fairleigh Dickinson U., has completed the Executive Management Program at Penn State and the Human Resource Executive Program at the U. of Michigan. Upon retirement from Darden Executive Education, George was awarded a Certificate of Management from the Darden Business School.
George served as the Chairman of the Deacons at First Baptist Church Charlottesville, VA. while Dr.Hicks was the Transitional Senior Pastor therefore 3 years.
